Why Adult Education?
1 in 10 children will be sexually abused by their 18th birthday.
When abuse is defined simply as a power dynamic in which a more powerful person forces themselves upon a less powerful person, educating children alone to protect themselves is insufficient. The burden of prevention and protection must sit squarely on the shoulders of adults who are legally and morally responsible for the health and safety of children.
What is Darkness to Light Training?
The program is designed for both youth-serving organizations and for individuals concerned about the safety of children.
Training is presented in a thought-provoking, group setting and includes:
A two-part DVD presentation with commentary from sexual abuse survivors, experts in the field and concerned adults.
Facilitator led discussions that emphasize the important issues in prevention within the community and organizations that serve children.
An interactive workbook promotes discussion, reinforces key concepts, and serves as a resource and personal action plan for resolving child sexual abuse.
